History of Instructional Technology

The definition of instructional technology has grown and developed as the field has expanded. As we keep developing new technologies and new theories of education so too do we change the definition of instructional technology. See below where we started and where we are now.

1920s - 1950s

Instructional technology was focused on the media that could be used in education. There was an increase in pictures and lantern slides being used. Radio broadcasting and motion pictures with sound became popular. This focus is now called instructional media.
